2- Identify a problem that only you can solve, or find projects where you can contribute your expertise that would give you visibility at the leadership level. That will be your opportunity to show your talents and your value.  Share your solutions with people that can help you move up.

3- Write an article or column for your organization’s intranet, or internal communications,. Interview a top leader in your organization of  industry. It will have a “halo” effect.” People will associate you with that top leader, and you’ll be remembered. This will help set you us as a person of interest in your field or organization.

4- Practice sharing your value with others. Too many women still believe that you shouldn’t “toot your own horn.” If you don’t “toot your own horn,” or tell people your ideas, no one will know you have them. Someone else will take credit.

5– Stop rationalizing when someone tries to take credit for your ideas. It’s not uncommon for women to say, “It doesn’t Bugle_Player_0 whose idea it was, it just matter if it helps the organization.”  It does matter unless you want to stay stuck watching people get credit for your creativity and get the promotion that you should have.
