1- Learn all you can about the business of your business. You have to study and be conversant in the business strategy of your organization. Find opportunities to have strategic conversations with people more senior, or key influencers. When people ask what you do, don’t just give your title, talk about your purpose and how you contribute to the organization’s success.
4- Practice sharing your value with others. Too many women still believe that you shouldn’t “toot your own horn.” If you don’t “toot your own horn,” or tell people your ideas, no one will know you have them. Someone else will take credit.
5– Stop rationalizing when someone tries to take credit for your ideas. It’s not uncommon for women to say, “It doesn’t whose idea it was, it just matter if it helps the organization.” It does matter unless you want to stay stuck watching people get credit for your creativity and get the promotion that you should have.
