I’m always asked what organizations can do to recruit “The Best and Brightest”
I have found ten steps that help ensure success. Here are three of them
• Identify your and your organizations’ core values, in order to target the right people.
• Develop and implement a strategy to market your organization as the employer of choice in all your collateral material; website, hard copy. Create a media presence through written articles and interviews.
• Once you identify some of the skills, talents and experiences you are looking for, and have determined some of the places where you might find those people, make sure that your recruiters are trained and are comfortable interacting with people who are different than them. When possible send a diverse team of recruiters to targeted venues. Organizations miss out on great people when they send recruiters to new places. It is a problem when recruiters are so uncomfortable and just stand around rather than engage, and end up talking to the same people they have always talked to and presenting them as the whole pool. Recruiting the best can mean going beyond your personal comfort zone, and being willing to open your mind to new ways of doing things.
I would be glad to go into further detail about any of these points plus talk with you about several more,
