The optimism is contagious today. I stood with 4,000 other people watching Obama get sworn in. Restaurants, community centers, and banks in the Sf Bay Area set up large screens so that people could watch with other people. The atmosphere was electric; people clapping, crying and hugging each other.

I drove by a restaurant that had opened all the window facing the street. Inside they had a DJ playing music at the window,and outside there were at least 100 people dancing in the street, people aged 18-78.

Everyone I passed greeted me with a big smile and asked me how I was. It was an amazing day and now it’s time for everyone to help ourselves and help each other do our best work and live our best lives.
