Three Ways to Be Visible and Advance Your Career in 2014

By December 4, 2013 No Comments
I’ve been coaching women and men who want to be more visible, and take their career to higher levels.
Here are three of the ten key strategies that I’ve found.
1- Learn all you can about the business of your business. You have to study and be conversant in the business strategy of your organization. Look for ways that you can contribute to that strategy. Identify the skills, and experience you have that can add value and that are relevant to where you want to be in your present organization or your desired one.
I’m amazed at how many people who want to advance, don’t know and can’t engage in strategic business discussions.
2- Identify a problem that only you can solve, or find projects where you can contribute your expertise that would give you visibility at the leadership level. That will be your opportunity to show your talents plus develop relationships with the people who can help you move.
3- Write an article or column for your organization’s intranet, or internal  communication process, or for the industry or company where you want to work. Write with a unique slant or interview the CEO or industry leader. You want to be seen as a person of interest.
